This weekend there is the yearly Amsterdam marathon. The Amsterdam marathon is the 2nd oldest marathon of the Netherlands and can be count as one of the lead marathons worldwide.
The marathon will start at the Olympic stadium (which is build for the olympic games of 1928) and will go through the Vondelpark, along the river the Amstel and passing Rembrandtsplein. The end will be at the Olympic stadium again. Have you never seen a marathon before, than this is your chance to cheer on the runners. You can cheer on the runners along the course or in the Olympic stadium. Entrance to the Olympic stadium is free. Beside the marathon itself there will also be various spectacular acts in the Olympic stadium.
If you like events like this, than you can see this as a nice tourist attraction when you visit Amsterdam. If you do not like events like this then take into account, when you want to visit other Amsterdam tourist attractions, that a lot of streets are blocked this Sunday (October 16th 2011).
